L’ILLUSTRATION – Paris 20 July, 1879

“We cannot avoid mentioning the decision so favorable to the autonomy of the Mirdites, taken at the Congress on the initiative of our first plenipotentiary. Their rights and privileges are now placed under the protection of a European act. We know that this tribe, protected from all time by France and which l’Illustration has sometimes presented to its readers, enjoyed ‘ab antiquo’ a kind of independence, under the direction of the heads of the Doda family. We give, in this issue, the portrait of the young prince of the Mirditi, son and heir of Bib Doda Pasha, who currently resides in Scutari.”
